Registration

The Notes

Once again, we will cap the ride at 100. So, please register as soon as you are able. The cost of the ride is $170 if you register by 9/24/2022 – after that it is $185. This is merely to penalize you procrastinators.

The last date for registrations is 9/29/2023. Full refunds will be given for cancellations requests received by 9/24/2023. Sorry, no refunds after 9/24/2023 – I am committed and so are you.

Some important notes:

  • The ride will go on – rain or shine. However, COVID is another issue. If cases spike then all bets are off – and so is the ride.
  • The ride is 61+ miles, at an elevation of over 7,000ft! Be prepared.
  • You have to walk about .2 miles on a dirt road to lunch. You should carry cleat covers or shoe covers! However, you can ride the road.
  • The ride is all uphill after lunch. Nothing we can do about it except wait about 100 million years for some major upheaval to turn things around.

The Process

Rgister online through Active.com. Please note that the “convenience fee” charged by Active is non-refundable – by Active (or us). And, buying the insurance on Active is a waste of your money. I give refunds up to the last couple of weeks.

If you want to register through the mail (USPS) or email and payments through Zelle.

The Do’s

  • ANSI approved helmets are
  • MANDATORY! No helmet, no ride.
  • It is recommended that each rider carry a large water bottle, spare tube & patch kit, pump, tire changing tools, sun screen, and a windbreaker if the weather happens to be chilly.
  • Sunscreen, lip-balm and sun glasses are recommended. Vitamin D and UV radiation provided free of charge (as long as it is not cloudy).
  • This is an open course and riders are responsible to observe and obey all traffic laws. Please be courteous to local traffic and drivers.
  • A multiple-gear bicycle in good working condition with a good low gear of 34″ or less is suggested for all but the strongest riders.

The Dont’s

There are drivers just dying to take out a cyclist – don’t give them an opportunity!

The Help

SAG-Wagons will patrol the routes to help the riders.
Volunteer mechanics will help with repairs, small parts, tires & tubes at the Food-Stops.
In case of injury, medical assistance is available from the fire districts along the routes. Phone 911.
You can make your life easy by renting a bike in SantaFe instead of lugging your bikes around. We are working with Mellow Velo bike shop. You can contact them at (505) 995-8356 and let them know that you will be riding the Santa Fe Gourmet Classic.

WE WANT YOU TO BE SAFE AND ENJOY THE EXPERIENCE!
